Project-Based Learning for Enhancing Practical and Industry-Oriented Skills

Mechanical Engineering: Where Theory Meets the Tools. At Aravali College of Engineering and Management, Project-Based Learning transforms students into Solution Architects. From first semester to final capstone, students do not just read about engines - they design, simulate, and build them.

Objectives of the Practice: To bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications; to develop problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills; to promote teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities; to enhance creativity, innovation, and design capabilities; and to improve the employability and industry readiness of students.

The department has systematically integrated Project-Based Learning across the curriculum. Mini projects are assigned to second- and third-year students, while final-year students undertake major projects based on industry problems or research themes. Students are encouraged to identify problems, conduct literature surveys, and develop feasible solutions through design, analysis, and prototype development.

Evidence of Success: Improved academic performance and conceptual understanding, increased participation in technical competitions, development of innovative prototypes, enhanced placement opportunities, student publications, Quad Bike Project (Batch 2024-25) and Electric Vehicle Project (Batch 2025-26).

Structured Mentor-Mentee System for Holistic Development

In a Mechanical Engineering department, the mentor-mentee relationship is the transmission system of professional growth - it transfers the high-torque experience of senior faculty to the high-speed potential of students.

Objectives of the Practice: To provide personalized academic guidance and support; identify and address academic, personal, and career-related challenges; improve retention, performance and well-being; and foster a strong teacher-student relationship and professional ethics.

In this system, each faculty member is assigned a group of 15-20 students. The mentor acts as a guide, counselor, and motivator. Regular meetings are conducted at least twice a month to discuss academic progress, attendance, performance in internal assessments, and personal concerns.

Evidence of Success: Improvement in academic performance and pass percentage, reduction in dropout rates and absenteeism, increased student participation in technical events, internships, and projects, better placement outcomes and career clarity among students, and positive feedback from students and parents.
